Horsemanship and Riding Lessons
What is it?
Horsemanship is the art of riding, handling and training of horses. Handling and training techniques are taught during mounted and unmounted lessons. In every lesson, the client will receive instruction in how to safely and effectively work with a horse, understand the horse’s nature, and ways of communicating. In addition, the client will learn how to communicate their intentions to the horse in a clear, fair, and confident manner. Ground work, specifically, is an essential part of balancing all horses.
During mounted lessons, clients will ride appropriately trained horses, or trailer in their own horses as available. Riding lessons are developed on an on-going individual basis. The Connected Equestrian staff specialize in teaching a balanced seat approach. As new riders progress, they can pursue training in more specific areas like dressage, jumping, or western riding. More experienced riders can continue to refine their riding skills and prepare for level advancement.
Who Can Ride?
All riders must be a minimum of four years old. Horseback riding does require some fitness and a degree of bravery. We accept beginner through advanced level riders. Our assessment process helps us determine wether riding at our center will be safe, suitable and meet your needs as a client.
Clients seek riding lessons for a variety of reasons; pursuit of a fun hobby, personal challenge and growth, or athletic competition. In all cases a solid connection and partnership with the horse is essential. We will help guide, train, and support you.
