Instructor in Training
Helping students learn and develop their skills is my passion.
I have worked hard to develop my own horsemanship and riding skills, and in that process, I have taken many lessons with a variety of instructors, experiencing good and poor methods of teaching. I have mentored under Advanced and Master Level instructors, as a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor for over 15 years, I have gained even more teaching techniques especially for different learners, groups and skill levels. The ability to properly prepare a student for learning, breakdown a skill, and choose the appropriate activity to help the student understand are essential components. This program will help you to develop your teaching technique and learn the skills necessary to teach a group of students even if they are at different levels while still progressing and providing everyone with a quality lesson.

Educating the instructor-in-training on basic teaching and learning methods especially as they relate to riding (example: specific reading and writing assignments will be give and time allotted for discussion)
Schedule lessons to practice teaching techniques (example: Instructor-in training will teach January 15th, one private lesson and 2 groups of 3 rider lessons.)
Provide feedback on lessons ways to further develop your instructor skills (example: Instructor-in training will meet with me for 2 hours, reviewing lessons taught and identifying what went well, and skills to be improved upon in the future lessons)
